Chelsea fans have been desperately waiting for an injury update on Reece James since he came off the pitch during yesterday’s 2-0 win against Bournemouth.

There’s no official line yet from the club. However, there’s been a reported update on the 23-year-old’s fitness.

According to The Athletic, the injury that James picked up against Bournemouth is not as bad as first feared.

It is explained that the right-back hopes to return in three to four weeks from this latest injury setback.

The report claims that the English full-back had a scan on Wednesday morning on the same knee that kept him sidelined during the past couple of months, ruining his World Cup dreams in the process.

Thankfully, the new knock isn’t a severe one that will threaten the rest of his season.

Reece James injury update

The Athletic’s injury line is good news of sorts because so much of this Chelsea team is centred around James.

It’s alarming to say, but the Blues line-up looks transformed when he’s on the pitch.

He posted a public message earlier today addressing his latest injury concern, which received a heartfelt response from Jude Bellingham.

James wrote on Instagram: “2022 has been the toughest year to date. Just wanna thank you all for the support, none of you go unnoticed.

“It’s naturally effected me mentally, I’m currently just tryna deal with the cards I’ve been dealt. I hope your end of year is filled with peace, joy & happiness.”

Chelsea will really miss the presence of James if he’s absent for a handful of games now. However, Graham Potter simply has to be cautious about bringing him back into the fold too soon despite his importance.

The Daily Mail says Chelsea are aiming to complete a deal for Celtic right-back Josip Juranovic after another injury blow to James. In our view, this needs sorting as soon as possible.
