Marcelo Gallardo has reportedly told Chelsea he would be interested in becoming their next manager.
Marcelo Gallardo, who’s aged 47, is a manager out of work right now.
However, he’s got an eye-catching CV from the eight years he spent as the boss of Argentine club giants River Plate. He ended with nine trophies in eight years before leaving last year.

According to The Independent last night, Gallardo has put himself forward as a candidate to be Chelsea’s next manager.
It is understood that the Blues do view the Argentine coach as an “interesting option”.
However, the Chelsea hierarchy would prefer to appoint someone that possesses top-level experience in Europe.
In addition, Gallardo could demand a salary worth as much as £10million-a-year.
We’re hearing a lot of noise around certain other managerial candidates, though. The Telegraph claimed yesterday that Chelsea have already made contact with available managers Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique.

Despite the fact he’s never coached in Europe before, Gallardo does have big admirers from the continent.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola raved about the former River Plate manager to TNT Sports back in 2019.
Guardiola said: “I know that what Gallardo has done at River is incredible, in terms of results… I don’t understand how Gallardo is not nominated as the best coaches of the world. Not only for 1 year, but for such a long time. Hopefully one day I can face their teams. It would be very nice.”
It will be interesting to see if he makes his way to European football soon.
