Report: Mauricio Pochettino decides he wants to keep Chelsea’s £58m player, Potter barely used him

Reports from Italy have claimed that Mauricio Pochettino is keen to make use of one player at Chelsea who Graham Potter hardly utilised.

According to Calcio Mercato, the Argentine has already outlined a desire to keep hold of Christian Pulisic despite strong rumours of an exit this summer.

The American has endured another tough season at Stamford Bridge, where he has once again struggled to establish himself as a regular option in the frontline.

Despite moving for £58m to join the club, it has been a struggle to defend the price tag up to now.

After a superb spell during project restart under Frank Lampard, there may have been hopes for the 24-year-old when he was announced as the interim boss that he may have a shot at redemption.

However, he has not yet utilised that opportunity, with a combination of injuries and formations which don’t suit his role seeing him continue to hardly feature.

Pochettino likes Pulisic

While it was certainly looking like an exit was on the cards this summer, it has now been claimed that the imminent hiring of Pochettino could change things.

The Argentine has emerged as the number one candidate for the permanent job after a number of other candidates have been considered.

Julian Nagelsmann was thought by many to be one of the top names for the job, however the lengthy recruitment process saw a divide between both parties.

This has left the former Tottenham boss with a clear run at the job, and Todd Boehly has reportedly been encouraged by fan reaction to the potential appointment.

While it is currently unclear which players he will be keen to bring in, reports have already linked the Blues with a potential move for Tottenham captain Harry Kane, relying heavily on Pochettino’s relationship with the Englishman.
