New Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino personally wants to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton, according to a report.

According to The Guardian, Chelsea are interested in signing Romeo Lavia from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

Southampton will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League.

It is hard to see the Saints turn down big offers for any of their best players, including Lavia.

The Guardian have claimed that Lavia is a “midfield target for Pochettino”.

The report has claimed that Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are also keen on securing the services of the 19-year-old Belgium international defensive midfielder, who is “a rare player”, according to former Manchester City defender and Burnley manager Vincent Kompany in Het Nieuwsblad in September 2021.

Could Chelsea sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton?

In our view, Chelsea will have to work extremely hard to get a deal done for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia in the summer transfer window.

As The Guardian reports, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United also want to sign the teenager.

And, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are actually in talks over bringing Lavia to the Emirates Stadium.

This suggests that Chelsea will have to step up their pursuit of Lavia and make a move of their own soon.

The problem is that the Blues are trying to offload a number of their players, including Mateo Kovacic and Mason Mount.

It would be a problem for Chelsea trying to get new players in without selling some of their current squad members.
