Sir Lewis Hamilton and Serena Williams have reportedly pledged their allegiance to Sir Martin Broughton’s Chelsea takeover bid.
According to Sky News, Hamilton and Williams will invest roughly £10m each in the group fronted by the former Liverpool chairman.
The GOATS
Outside of football, there probably aren’t many bigger names in the sporting world than the two now backing Broughton.
Hamilton is a seven-time Formula One world champion, recording the most wins in Formula 1 history ahead of the legendary Michael Schumacher.
Williams meanwhile remains arguably the most famous player in her profession.

She has won 23 singles Grand Slams – including six Wimbledon titles – four Olympic Gold medals and was the world’s number one for 319 weeks.
That’s not a bad pair to have in your corner.
Who else is behind Broughton?
With the driving icon and the court queen on board, Broughton’s party looks extremely healthy heading into the final lap of the Chelsea sale process.
The 75-year-old has also acquired the finances of John Arnold, chair of the 2026 FIFA World Cup bid committee.
The Tsai family, owners of two sports teams in Taiwan and the Rogers family of Rogers Communications are involved as well.
Not to mention Alejandro Santo Domingo, heir to a huge brewing fortune and investor in numerous North American sports franchises.
Then there’s the involvement of David Blitzer and Josh Harris, stakeholders in rival Premier League side Crystal Palace.

If Broughton’s consortium is selected to replace Roman Abramovich, Harris and Blitzer must divest their minority shareholding in Palace prior to completing the deal.
But they might need to hold onto the slice of Selhurst Park, just in case their efforts are trumped by another of the candidates.
Following the removal of the Ricketts family from the race, the two other remaining applicants are Todd Boehly and Stephen Pagliuca.
Boehly was in attendance at Stamford Bridge last night to see the game against Arsenal, as he still looks the most likely to acquire Abramovich’s kingdom.
Hopefully the identity of the new owners will be announced before the end of the month, because we cannot take all this tension anymore!
