Mauricio Pochettino is expected to bring his four-man backroom team to Chelsea as he is entering the final phase of negotiations with the club, according to reports.
Pochettino has emerged as the leading candidate to become the next Chelsea permanent manager recently, and according to The Telegraph, both parties are on the verge of an agreement.
The report claims that Pochettino is in the final negotiations with Chelsea and will be allowed to bring at least four assistants with him.
The first name on the reported list is Pochettino’s number two and head of conditioning, Jesus Perez. He is said to play an influential role in Pochettino’s set-up and will be expected to work alongside Chelsea medical team going forward.
Then there are first-team coach Miguel D’Agostino, goalkeeping coach Toni Jimenez, and Pochettino’s son, Sebastiano, who is a sports scientist.
Aside from Sebastiano, the other three have worked with Pochettino throughout his managerial career at Espanyol, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, and Paris Saint-Germain.
There remains confusion about the status of Graham Potter’s former coaching staff at Chelsea, however.
Bruno Saltor, for example, who was in charge of Chelsea’s draw with Liverpool as an interim, is still listed on Chelsea’s staff list on the official website. This is also the case with assistant coach Bjorn Hamberg.
The Telegraph claims that the pair are expected to leave, although the future of goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts and recruitment specialist Kyle Macaulay remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, Frank Lampard’s staff, including fellow Chelsea legend Ashley Cole, will likely depart the club alongside the caretaker manager at the end of the season.
