Reports suggest that Chelsea’s owners have made hiring a new sporting director their number one priority at Stamford Bridge for the next two months.
According to The Independent, Todd Boehly is looking to have a ‘world-class’ candidate in place by November, as he looks to relieve himself of some of the duties he put on himself when he took over Chelsea.
The American took over a number of roles at boardroom level after the likes of Petr Cech and Marina Granovskaia left their positions during this summer.

It appears this may have had somewhat of a negative effect on Chelsea’s summer, with them missing out on a number of signings including Matthijs de Ligt.
It can be argued that if the club had more experienced football people in some of these senior roles, these mishaps may not have been a factor this summer, likely restricting them from having to get involved in the deadline day sagas that were created.
Chelsea want sporting director by November
This seems to be an element of concern for those in charge, with The Independent claiming they want their well-documented hunt for a sporting director to end before November.
The report goes on to say that new manager Graham Potter will be heavily involved in the decision process, with the owners wanting all parties to be working closely together.

The former Brighton boss put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Chelsea, with his impressive personal start to the season impressing the owners enough to hand him the keys to the project.
It has also been claimed that the 47-year-old’s lack of failures at the top level played a factor, with the new owners not favouring an approach of giving second chances to those who have not previously delivered.
This seemingly ruled Mauricio Pochettino out of the running, with the owner’s reportedly not convinced at his ability to deliver on the big stage following Champions League final defeat when in charge of Tottenham in 2019.
