Reports suggest that Chelsea’s Mason Mount is attracting attention from three of the biggest clubs in England.
According to The Athletic, the England international has plenty of admirers from the top of the game as the Blues look to secure him to a brand new contract.
It had been reported that Chelsea’s new owners were shocked to see how low Mount and teammate Reece James were on the club’s pay scale, with them amongst the lowest earners in the first team.
This is clearly not representative of their importance to the side, with Mount being determined as the club’s ‘most valuable player’ on the transfer market.
While talks are underway for the pair to extend their times at Stamford Bridge, The Athletic have claimed that Mount is attracting a lot of interest from England, with three of the league’s fellow biggest clubs interested in a deal.
Mount wanted by biggest English clubs
The season so far has been underwhelming for the attacking midfielder, although he was able to register his first assist of the season to Raheem Sterling in the game against Southampton the other day.
Despite that, he has struggled to live up to his own high standards in the opening five games, with him being offered a start in every one so far.
Alongside Kai Havertz, the pair have struggled to set the world alight as two of the three attackers to feature in every game so far this season.
They will both be feeling the pressure, with new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and young star Armando Broja both set to turn the heat up in terms of competition.
Thankfully, it is highly unlikely that the Blues will have to lose Mount, or James for that matter. Everything points to the pair loving the responsibility of being important Chelsea players, with them both being tipped at points to become future Chelsea captains.
However, the 23-year-old will be the first to say that his season will have to improve in order to be a guaranteed starter for the rest of the campaign.
