Report: Todd Boehly was left frustrated with Thomas Tuchel not playing Chelsea youngster before he was sacked

Reports have claimed that Todd Boehly was frustrated that Thomas Tuchel was refusing to play Carney Chukwuemeka for Chelsea.

According to The Athletic, the decision was one of a number of issues the pair clashed over before the German was fired.

The decision to sack the manager was certainly a contentious one. However, the owners insisted from the start that the decision was made for non-footballing reasons.

Reports began to emerge of a number of topics the two parties were not seeing eye-to-eye over.

Boehly’s desire to sign Cristiano Ronaldo was well-documented over the summer. The American held a number of meetings with his agent Jorge Mendes.

However, it was claimed that Tuchel was firmly against the idea, instead preferring the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a striker.

Now, The Athletic have claimed that the decision to not give Chukwuemeka a single minute since his summer signing is another point the pair did not agree on.

The Blues paid big money for the former Aston Villa teenager over the summer, despite him having only one year left on his deal at Steven Gerrard’s side.

The report goes on to say that the American owners are keen to integrate a number of young players into the first team. This is backed up by some of their summer signings.

The Blues spent good money on Gabriel Slonina, who has been training with the club for the last few days.

They also invested in Italian talent Cesare Casadei, who has been impressing for the youth sides despite his discipline issues.

The 19-year-old was handed his second appearance for the club last night, with him being trusted with a long cameo in an important moment against Brentford last night.

The fact that Graham Potter trusted him with a showing when the club needed a goal shows that his time at Chelsea may be about to get a lot better.
