Pundit Jamie Carragher has said he has been really impressed by one Chelsea player throughout the entire season.

He told Sky Sports that he actually thinks midfielder Conor Gallagher has enjoyed a better campaign so far than Enzo Fernandez.

Against the side he was on loan to a few seasons ago, it was truly the Gallagher show as he found the net twice to help them turn things around at Selhurst Park.

He scored twice to see the Blues come from behind to lead, before his World Cup winning teammate found the net in the final seconds to clinch the deal.

Mauricio Pochettino has pushed for a trio that involves the two goalscorers and Moises Caicedo all season, however has constantly shifted their roles and responsibilities this season.

Carragher has claimed that out of the three, it is the Englishman who has left the biggest impact on him.

Carragher more impressed by Gallagher than Fernandez

He said: “If you go back to the first game of the season, it was actually Conor Gallagher who was playing a deeper position and Enzo Fernandez was actually playing between the lines. If you actually remember, in that Liverpool game, we did a piece on him after the game and he was absolutely fantastic.

“Obviously, Caicedo has now come into the team. I still think he’s found it difficult. I haven’t been impressed by him at all.

“I’d say right now, Conor Gallagher out of those three has been the one that has impressed me the most this season.”

It is very likely that the three will all be named in the side that starts the EFL Cup final at the end of this month against Liverpool at Wembley.

With him beginning to come into form in front of goal in recent weeks, he may be in the best position possible to make himself a hero to Chelsea fans all over the world by playing a pivotal role.
