Wrexham owner and Hollywood actor Rob McElhenney has now sent a message to Chelsea after the Blues defeated his side in a pre-season friendly.

He took to Twitter to thank them for the game, whilst hinting he was hoping to see them again as a Premier League side in a few years’ time.

It was near enough the perfect evening for Mauricio Pochettino, who challenged the younger members of his Chelsea side to impress in their first opportunities under him.

A 5-0 win suggests they did just that, and plenty of praise came their way for some of the stuff they did on the pitch.

Last night’s opponent Ben Foster was left in awe at how sharp the young players on display were, as they looked to make a statement to the new manager that they can play a part next season.

Meanwhile, pundit Jason Cundy who was working on the game for the club was left really impressed by Cesare Casadei.

The midfielder had a loan move to Reading mostly wasted by their own incompetence, although was given the opportunity to show his class for the young Italian side over the summer.

McElhenney was extremely respectful of the Blues as he took to social media as he thanked them for the game last night.

He said: “Thank you Chelsea !!!! Hopefully we’ll see you again in 5 years or so :)”

If there was one piece of bad news to come from the evening, it was that captain from the off Trevoh Chalobah was forced off with an apparent Achilles injury.

With the recent serious injury confirmed for Wesley Fofana, the Blues can’t afford for another centre-back to be out for a considerable amount of time.
