Robert Sanchez has been discussing the mood at Chelsea following their 0-0 draw with Everton on Sunday.

Chelsea had the chance to move to the top of the Premier League table momentarily but failed to do so after their stalemate at Goodison Park.

All in all, it was not their best performance of the season, and Enzo Maresca‘s men now find themselves four points behind Liverpool again.

Sean Dyche thinks Everton could have won the game, though a draw was probably a fair result in the end.

Robert Sanchez and Chelsea happy with Everton performance

Chelsea would have been desperate for the three points, which would have seen them go top before Liverpool’s win against Tottenham Hotspur.

Sanchez says his teammates were still happy with the performance that they put in at Goodison Park, though.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official website after the game, he said: “It’s a stadium that’s always been hard to come [to] for any team and, to be honest, I think Everton are one of the teams with the most clean sheets in Europe.

“So I think in a game that gets complicated, the important thing is not to lose the game and that’s what we did today. We got one point; we’re happy with the performance.”

Maresca is happy with Sanchez right now, saying as much after the full-time whistle on Sunday.

Should Chelsea really be satisfied after Everton draw?

Last season, Chelsea lost the same fixture 2-0 and found themselves in the bottom half of the table.

This time around, they have drawn 0-0 and are now just four points off top. Simply put, the Blues have improved massively since then.

Had Nicolas Jackson been more clinical on the day, Chelsea probably would have won the game.

Ultimately, Sanchez and his teammates can be happy with both the result and their performance. In the past, Chelsea would have lost that fixture after putting in a much worse display.

Maresca’s men take on Fulham at Stamford Bridge next before facing Ipswich Town. They can be disappointed if they slip up in those fixtures.

But a point away at Goodison is really not bad for a team who have really struggled there in recent years. Chelsea fans will be grateful that they never have to travel there again.
