Chelsea made a statement to the sides they are competing with for Champions League football next season that they are not finished yet as they annihilated Southampton.
The Blues picked up a 4-0 win, with goals and assists coming from across the board as they dismantled the side currently bottom of the Premier League.
This included an assist for youngster Tyrique George off the bench, becoming the youngest Chelsea assister since Callum Hudson-Odoi back in 2019.
Cole Palmer’s woes continued in front of goal, however it only feels a matter of time before he puts it right in the final third.

Bernardo Cueva gets credit for Levi Colwill’s goal for Chelsea vs Southampton
There was a first Chelsea goal of the season to shout about for Levi Colwill, as he powered home a header from a deep Pedro Neto free-kick.
Set-pieces are certainly an area the Blues will feel they needed to work on this season, and have gone to great lengths to ensure they improve.
This has included the costly acquisition of Bernardo Cueva from Brentford, who has been working as the set-piece coach at the club.
It looks as if the Mexican may be due some of the credit for Colwill’s goal during the week. According to FourFourTwo, substitute goalkeeper Robert Sanchez went straight to Cueva to celebrate his goal, indicating that he had something to do with the execution.

Sanchez may well find himself on the bench for the rest of the season after Enzo Maresca publicly backing Filip Jorgensen as his number one.
New Chelsea coach makes instant impact
Chelsea have recently added Max Vogelsang-Szczupak to their coaching staff as a set-piece analyst following his time at Middlesbrough.
It was reported that he would be working closely with Cueva to get results from those scenarios, an area they were underperforming in this season.
Given the fact that the Blues found the net from two set-pieces in the same game, credit can be given to Vogelsang-Szczupak for the win and the impact he has made on the side already.
They will be hoping this becomes more of a trend, and also translates to how they defend corners and free-kicks for the rest of the campaign.
