Roy Keane has labelled Chelsea as “very average” despite their win on Monday night against Tottenham.
Chelsea recorded a 4-1 away victory this week at Spurs, which lifted them into the top half of the Premier League table.
It was one of the more memorable London derbies in recent times because of two red cards, five disallowed goals and a Spurs defence still playing with an incredibly high line even when down to nine men.
Many are critical of how long it took the Blues to figure out the opposition’s offside trap, but they eventually wrapped up three points with Nicolas Jackson’s quick-fire hat-trick late on.

Roy Keane criticism
Roy Keane thinks that Chelsea flattered to deceive in their big win over Spurs.
“I didn’t think the quality was that great in the game… I thought Chelsea were very, very average,” Keane told The Overlap.
“I was disappointed with Chelsea, I know they scored late on and it looks a comfortable scoreline, but up until the last few minutes Spurs were still in with a chance.”
Chelsea simmering nicely
We agree it wasn’t vintage from Chelsea against nine-man Spurs. Let’s not overlook the fact that they managed a 4-1 away win to crush the opposition’s unbeaten record, though.
There’s definitely signs that it’s starting to click for the Blues in plenty of aspects.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side now face the sternest test in football with a clash at home to Manchester City this Sunday afternoon, the final game before a two-week international break.
Speaking on The Overlap this week, Gary Neville has made the surprise prediction that Chelsea can get a draw versus Man City.
It would be great for the Blues to keep up this recent trend of collecting points against the top sides. The challenge after that is breaking down league rivals that sit in defensively and play with a low block against them. You can be sure that won’t be the case at the weekend against Pep Guardiola’s men.
