The England starting side had a brand new look to it when they took on Greece in the Nations League last night.

Noni Madueke was handed a start on the right of attack, with him now the only Chelsea representative on display after Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill withdrew from action.

The winger took his chance nicely to impress on the international stage, impressing greatly in the first half in particular.

Chelsea fans were delighted with Madueke’s performance, with him picking up an assist for Ollie Watkins’ opening goal.

Roy Keane very impressed by Noni Madueke for England

With plenty of competition for places in an England side who will be managed by Thomas Tuchel in the new year, the Blues man did his chances of appearing more regularly absolutely no harm.

Roy Keane was very impressed with Madueke’s hunger to make runs off the ball to help with attacks last night.

He said: “Just do what you did for the goal, and moments like this. Running off the ball, you’ve got to do it. There’s an obsession with everyone coming to the ball. You’ve got to stretch teams.

“You look at the players he’s coming up against. If he’s going at you every time, he’s a handful. You’ve got to affect the game and that’s what he’s doing. Yes, he’s got to learn about the defensive side of the game, but when you get these positions, he’d cause any defender problems.”

Pedro Neto putting Madueke’s Chelsea place in doubt

Madueke will be hoping that his performances on international duty are enough to see him keep his place in the Chelsea side when club football returns next weekend.

Pedro Neto has seemed to earn himself a regular starting birth in the Premier League side of late, and Micah Richards thinks Neto would be even better on the right-wing.

This would perhaps cause an issue for Madueke, as well as the likely imminent return from injury of Jadon Sancho after missing a number of games in all competitions.
