Michael Owen believes that the recent signing of Moises Caicedo is a truly brilliant one for Chelsea.
Chelsea’s spending continued earlier this week when the club confirmed the arrival of Moises Caicedo, 21, from Premier League rivals Brighton.
The Blues have coughed up a mega £100million for his signature, which could rise to a British club record of £115million with add-ons (BBC).
So, there’s going to be big pressure on the defensive midfielder to hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge from day one.

Owen is really impressed by Caicedo’s arrival at Chelsea this week. In particular, he’s already salivating over the prospect of the 21-year-old playing next to Enzo Fernandez in the Blues midfield.
“Adding Caicedo to that [Chelsea] midfield will be almost formidable. Him and Enzo Fernandez in midfield, I can’t think of a better midfield combination in the Premier League. You look at Rodri and [Kevin] De Bruyne. But that is one serious signing for Chelsea,” Owen told Premier League productions.

We agree that this feels like the most significant moment of Chelsea’s summer, which should go a long way to transforming the midfield under Mauricio Pochettino.
A Caicedo-Fernandez pivot in the centre of the park has all the potential to dominate this league. Of course, it’s not going to be easy and that partnership will need time to develop.
We feared for the future of the Blues midfielder when losing the likes of Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho in the same calendar yet. A massive credit for the club to rebuilding the key area of the pitch, though.
The Times recent claimed that Chelsea hope to have new signing Caicedo in the squad to face West Ham this Sunday.
