Local media were last night very impressed with the performance of Chelsea loanee Cesare Casadei playing for Leicester in the Championship.

Leicestershire Live rated his performance at a 7/10, with them crediting the youngster for his ability to fight back into the game following a tough start.

Casadei was handed what has turned out to be a rare appearance from the beginning last night, as the Foxes extended their lead at the top of England’s second tier.

The Italian has had brief bright moments, although many at the club will probably be slightly underwhelmed with what has occurred for him so far.

This seems to be a common theme for promising loanees in the most part this season. Andrey Santos has hardly seen the pitch at Nottingham Forest, while David Datro Fofana is beginning to show signs of frustrations over in the Bundesliga.

Casadei praised for performance

A positive performance last night though for Casadei will have done him the world of good. Leicestershire Live were particularly impressed with his ability to carry the ball forwards and maintain possession.

They said: “Cesare Casadei: He was bypassed a fair amount early in the game, but showed strength when it did come his way.

“He missed a glorious chance and then was denied by a superb save early in the second period, and he seemed to grow in confidence after that, and kept the ball well, carrying it forward confidently too. 7

After impressing Mauricio Pochettino during pre-season, there will no doubt be some expectation that he reaches a level soon where he can compete for minutes at Stamford Bridge.

However, competition for places in the midfield roles will make this very difficult, with the Blues continuing to strengthen with every passing transfer window.
