TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan fears that the media could start to unfairly criticise a Chelsea player in a similar way to what they’ve done with Jude Bellingham.
Real Madrid and England star Jude Bellingham, 22, is never far from the spotlight.
The attacking midfielder has returned from injury to play for Madrid in the last few weeks, but he was one notable omission from Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad during the October international break. As a result, there’s plenty of speculation in the papers regarding behaviour away from the pitch.
In terms of hard evidence, Bellingham is a sensational player who’s one of the best English talents of his generation.

Simon Jordan fears Cole Palmer could be scrutinised like Jude Bellingham
If you’re looking for England’s most high-profile players right now, Chelsea star Cole Palmer is right near the top alongside the likes of Harry Kane and Bellingham.
TalkSPORT’s Simon Jordan has suggested that Palmer could end up becoming a target for the media in a similar way to Bellingham.
When discussing the media’s scrutiny of the Madrid superstar, Jordan told talkSPORT (8 October): “It’s an envy. There’s something in our culture that wants to pull people down…
“They want to pull him down. All of a sudden, Jude Bellingham is doing just a little bit too well. It’ll be Cole Palmer next. Just doing a little bit too well. ‘Cole Palmer trademarked his name. Who does he think he is?’ They’ll start pulling people down. And I don’t think that’s a good way to be in this country.”
Reports claim that Palmer will miss Chelsea’s next four games across all competitions because of his ongoing groin injury. Of course, that means he’s also absent from the current England squad.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder comes across very well to the media with a laid-back personality to go with outstanding ability on a football pitch.

Cole Palmer’s England career so far
At the moment, Palmer’s time in the England senior team has been brief but memorable. We hope to see him play a key for his country next year at the 2026 World Cup in the United States.
| Caps (Starts) | Goals | Assists |
| 12 (5) | 2 | 1 |
As you can see above, the Chelsea playmaker is still in the early stages of his international career. Even so, he scored a memorable equalising goal in the 2024 Euro final against Spain, but they would eventually lose the match 2-1.
Stan Collymore’s suggestion for Palmer is that England should use him on the left wing to get him into the best XI, but we would much rather see him as a number 10 or right-winger.
