Reports have claimed that Mauricio Pochettino has taken up a new persona since taking over as Chelsea manager.

According to The Independent, the Argentine is far spikier than how he has usually been perceived in the media up to now.

Pochettino will be more than impressed with what he has seen so far on the pitch.

The Blues went unbeaten in pre-season for the first time since 2011, and they will be particularly pleased with this based on the opponents they faced.

The Premier League Summer Series has seen them compete against five sides who finished above them in the league last season.

Pochettino spikier than normal

They came out on top, and the sight of a trophy lift is never a bad thing even if it is just in pre-season.

There will be a number of players he will have been pleasantly surprised by after their performances, and confidence will be high going into the curtain raiser against Liverpool next Sunday.

Pochettino has always maintained a persona that he is the type of manager who will put an arm round some players in his squad when they need it.

He has already been spotted in deep conversation with the likes of Ben Chilwell and Kepa Arrizabalaga, two players who are likely start on opening day.

With the club looking for stability again after the dire season under Graham Potter last year, they are requiring someone with a lot more authority to lead them into a season where they will not be taking part in any European football.
