Reports have claimed that Chelsea are actually prepared to listen to bids for one player when the transfer window opens again next month.
According to The Athletic, sources close to the club have told them that they are still willing to hear offers for Conor Gallagher in January.
There was plenty of talk last summer that Gallagher could have been sold by the Blues in an attempt to balance the books.
Even on deadline day when the season was well underway, reports continued to claim that they were open to offers to see him leave.
He remained at Stamford Bridge however, where he has quickly become one of the go-to players for Mauricio Pochettino.
The manager has been full of praise for the England international ever since he arrived, and this has been shown by how much he has played for them.
Gallagher could be sold in January
Apart from when he was suspended against Manchester United, he has started every single Premier League game this season. He has even donned the captain’s armband on occasion.
Nevertheless, the manager admitted that keeping hold of the midfielder was out of his hands, and the decision was up to those upstairs at Stamford Bridge.
Now, it has been claimed that despite his strong performances on the pitch, those in the boardroom are still prepared to listen to offers for him when the window opens again in the new year.
The Blues will likely not be short of teams wanting to sign the 23-year-old, with the report stating they will be holding out for an offer of around £40m.
Chelsea have spent big money in recent transfer windows on midfielders, with someone like Romeo Lavia yet to make his debut for the club. This could perhaps explain why they are open to letting Gallagher leave for the right money.
