While Chelsea are not involved in any form of European competition this season, they will likely be looking at some of the former players to see how they do this season.

According to WhoScored, Joao Felix is one of those who have been enjoying themselves since leaving the club.

A number of players who left the club over the summer are now competing in the Champions League, with it fair to say they are enjoying mixed fortunes.

Last night saw Mason Mount remain on the bench for Manchester United’s biggest game of the season in the competition.

They scraped a win over Copenhagen, picking up their first points in the competition.

Kai Havertz has also struggled for gametime with Arsenal, although that has seemed a more regular theme of his time in North London so far.

Felix starring in Europe

However, one player who certainly isn’t struggling is Felix. In his opening two games in the Champions League, he has two goals and an assist to his name.

As he now features regularly for the club he has claimed is a dream of his, he is beginning to look like the player described as ‘special’ in the past.

His performances in Europe have been extremely strong statistically too. WhoScored rate him fifth for players who have played in the competition this season.

Felix’s performances in general have seen him get plenty of praise this season, which pales in comparison to what occurred during his time in West London.

Despite brief moments of promise, it was a largely underwhelming spell at the club on loan, seeing him not signed on a permanent basis.

It has been claimed that this was the decision made by new manager Mauricio Pochettino, who instead preferred to build his team with Christopher Nkunku ready to play in that role.
