Stan Collymore thinks he already knows Graham Potter’s next club

Chelsea confirmed that Graham Potter has now departed the club on Sunday, but Stan Collymore expects him to return to Premier League management soon with Leicester City.

One day after Saturday’s 2-0 to Aston Villa, Chelsea decided that it was time to part ways with Potter.

It was clear that the new ownership group hoped that it could be a long-term partnership when they offered the former Brighton manager a five-year contract back in September, but despite the huge financial support in the last two transfer windows, it just did not work.

The last six months have arguably been as damaging to Potter’s reputation as much as Chelsea’s, but it does not necessarily mean that he is suddenly not among the highest-rated managers in the country.

Collymore believes Potter would be the ideal candidate to replace Brendan Rodgers, who was also sacked on Sunday, at Leicester.

“Pre-emptive tweet. Leicester announce Potter,” the former England striker wrote on Twitter.

The sooner Potter is back in management, the better it is for Chelsea, too, assuming that he is still on the club’s payroll while he is out of work.

While for Chelsea, relatively-inexperienced Bruno Saltor Grau has surprisingly been appointed as interim head coach ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Liverpool.

In terms of a permanent replacement, Fabrizio Romano claims that Julian Nagelsmann is currently the leading candidate to succeed Potter.

Despite Thomas Tuchel’s appointment at Bayern Munich, however, Nagelsmann is still under contract at the German club and they would reportedly seek compensation from his next employers.
