Chelsea sold some big players last summer, including Mason Mount and Kai Havertz.

After a slow start to life at Arsenal, the latter has really picked up recently, scoring an excellent goal against Burnley over the weekend.

Nevertheless, former Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, who has been speaking on ‎The Optus Sport Football Podcast, still thinks the Blues did “superb business” by selling Kai Havertz to Arsenal.

They were able to get £65m for the German attacker, according to BBC Sport.

Nicolas Jackson has come in to replace Havertz up front and has scored seven goals in the Premier League this season, already matching the 24-year-old’s 2022/23 tally.

Chelsea selling Kai Havertz to Arsenal superb business

Despite Havertz’s recent form, Schwarzer still thinks Chelsea selling the Germany international to their London rivals was good business.

On the transfer, he said: “I think it’s really good business, Havertz to Arsenal for £60m. No, I think it’s superb business by Chelsea.”

Chelsea’s attack coping without Kai Havertz

Chelsea’s forward line is not perfect. If it were, Mauricio Pochettino‘s side would not be 10th in the Premier League table.

However, their attack can be really dangerous at times and looks fine without Havertz, who was never a prolific forward for the club.

Jackson, Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer all combined excellently for Chelsea’s goal against Manchester City over the weekend, with Sterling finishing off a brilliant counter-attack.

Pochettino needs to see more of that. If he does, then Chelsea can become a top four side again.

Going forward, they need a more prolific No.9. Jackson should surpass Havertz’s figures for last season quite comfortably, but it may be a while before the 22-year-old develops into a 20-goal striker.

In terms of whom Chelsea could sign, then, Stamford Bridge is reportedly the preferred destination for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen this summer. He would definitely fit into the bracket of being more prolific with his record.
