The spotlight is likely to be on Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali, as well as Todd Boehly, in the coming weeks.

There have been reports about a souring relationship between Behdad Eghbali and Todd Boehly.

Boehly could now try and buy Eghbali and Clearlake Capital out, but all of the noise coming out of Chelsea suggests that the 50-year-old would be unsuccessful.

It means Boehly is going to have to find a way to get along with Eghbali or consider parting ways with him and Chelsea.

What Behdad Eghbali does at Stamford Bridge

Boehly and Eghbali are often seen at Chelsea games, the latter more so these days.

Eghbali is a real hands-on kind of owner, with talkSPORT presenter Sam Matterface claiming that he sees the 48-year-old storming up and down the tunnel at Stamford Bridge and sometimes heading into the dressing room.

Speaking to former Chelsea defender Scott Minto on talkSPORT, Matterface said: “Having been at the ground, and you have been there too, I have noticed when I am in the tunnel that the reverence to Eghbali is quite high.

“And Eghbali will storm up and down the tunnel, get involved in whatever, and he will go past us and sometimes he will go into the dressing room himself.”

In their first two full seasons as owners of Chelsea, the Blues have finished 12th and sixth in the Premier League table. Clearlake acknowledge mistakes have been made at Chelsea since they took over.

Chelsea need to resolve ownership issue quickly

Chelsea need to qualify for the Champions League this season and all of the politics upstairs will not help them.

The ownership situation is something that needs to be sorted, though with Clearlake not wanting to sell their shares in the club to Boehly, there may not actually be a resolution any time soon.

For Enzo Maresca‘s sake, hopefully there is. He will not want to be answering questions about Boehly and Eghbali every week, but that is going to happen the more noise that comes out of Stamford Bridge.

Ultimately, there is a lot of uncertainty at Chelsea right now. It is not what supporters will want, especially after everything that happened with Roman Abramovich, which will still be in their minds. It was only two years ago that he had to sell the club.
