TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan insisted that Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is demanding “outlandish” wage demands amid the uncertainty over his future at Stamford Bridge.

The reported lack of progress in contract talks between Chelsea and Mount remains a hot topic ahead of the summer transfer window.

If the two parties do not reach an agreement this summer, the club is expected to cash in on the 24-year-old as he is getting closer to entering the final year of his contract.

Mount has been linked with a number of clubs already, including Liverpool.

Jordan argued that like with Chelsea, the versatile midfielder would have a hard time agreeing a deal with other clubs due to his wage demands.

“His problem with Chelsea as far as I understand it, with the contractual situation and a potential move away, is that there are some pretty outlandish demands coming for salary,” he told talkSPORT when speaking about Mount.

“I think they’re in the mid-£200,000-plus…

“If those numbers were the numbers, would you accept that as a premise of pretty significant wage demands?

“Therein lies some of the problems, why there are certain teams that can’t sign him.”

It is unclear where the figures Simon mentioned came from, but it might have to do with Mount’s reportedly turning down Chelsea’s latest offer worth £180,000-a-week.

It is possible that he might have not simply asked for more, but another report from The Athletic mentioned that there were issues in terms of image rights, bonuses, and the length of contract.

Chelsea reportedly want Mount to sign a seven-year deal, which would tie him to the club until the age of 31, which the midfielder refused to accept.
