TalkSPORT pundit names Chelsea’s second best player after Joao Felix against Fulham

TalkSPORT pundit Scott Minto thinks Chelsea youngster Lewis Hall was his side’s second best player after Joao Felix in last night’s defeat to Fulham.

Chelsea’s miserable form stretched to a 2-1 away defeat against rivals Fulham on Thursday evening.

The Blues have 25 points in 18 league games so far, which leaves them 10th in the division table. It’s most alarming that they’re 10 points adrift of the Champions League positions.

Felix, who was in the thick of the action during his Chelsea debut, dazzled before being shown a straight red card. Incidentally, Jamie Carragher described the 23-year-old attacker as the best player on the pitch before his dismissal.

Elsewhere, Graham Potter showed more faith in 18-year-old academy graduate Hall by starting him at Craven Cottage.

The versatile talent did play well in the left wing-back position, albeit there was an error in the build up to Willian’s opening goal.

Lewis Hall and Joao Felix earn plaudits

Minto believes that Hall and Felix were the standout pairing in Chelsea colours against Fulham.

“Lewis Hall, I have to say, is one of the few positives. I think he’s been absolutely fantastic. But he makes a mistake on the goal,” Minto told talkSPORT.

“I thought Joao Felix was excellent, one of the best debuts I’ve seen for a very long time… He goes and puts in a challenge like that. How can Graham Potter do anything about that? Your best player puts in that type of tackle.”

Minto later added: “They (Hall and Felix) were the best two players for Chelsea… When you’ve got a kid coming in and he’s your second-best player, then there is clearly a problem.”

If Hall keeps performing like he is, there should be plenty more first-team appearances around the corner.

It’s no surprise the left-footed teenager is still making a few errors, but the way he’s standing up in a struggling side is admirable.
