Chelsea defender Reece James was able to make his first Premier League start since the beginning of the season against Tottenham Hotspur last night.

Reece James has missed most of the campaign so far because of a hamstring injury, but the right-back has returned to action and former Chelsea player Tammy Abraham is delighted to see him playing again.

James captained Chelsea to a 4-1 win against their London rivals and, as most players do today, took to social made after the game to celebrate. He posted a few pictures on an Instagram post and Abraham simply replied with: “My RB”. Current teammate Moises Caicedo also sent some love James’ way after his performance.

It was a great night for the 23-year-old and his teammates, who managed to end Tottenham’s unbeaten start to the season.

Next up for Chelsea is a home tie against Premier League and European champions Manchester City, another tough fixture.

Reece James performed well against Tottenham

There was a moment during the game where Gary Neville thought James acted recklessly. But other than that, the England international did a good job.

James started off slowly and really struggled at the beginning of the game, like most of his teammates, but he eventually recovered.

According to WhoScored, he made three tackles on the night. No other Chelsea player managed to make more. And when it came to key passes, only Conor Gallagher managed to record more with five.

Defensively and offensively, then, it is easy to see just how important James is to this Chelsea side.

Hopefully James can now stay fit after all of his injury issues, especially with more tough fixtures to come, including the one against City on Sunday. If the Three Lions star can, then he could end up feeling like a brand new signing for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
