Glen Johnson has been really impressed by Malo Gusto in the opening stages of his Chelsea career.
Malo Gusto, who’s just 20, has settled pretty smoothly into life at Stamford Bridge so far.
The Blues paid Lyon £26million (Sky Sports) in the January transfer window for the young defender, which we’re predicting could turn out to be a major bargain further down the line.
He’s an attack-minded right-back that has now joined up with the squad after finishing last season on loan with Lyon.

Retired Chelsea full-back Johnson is excited by the early signs he’s seeing from Gusto.
Speaking in an interview with GGRecon, Johnson said about Gusto: “From what I’ve seen of him, he’s very technically gifted and quick, but I’ve not seen enough of him to say that if Reece James left Chelsea in the near future, that Malo would seamlessly fill the void.
“You see a lot of players come to the Premier League, play ten games and you never see them again, so you can never predict what’s going to happen. However, it looks like Malo has a lot of potential but is he going to be the next Reece? Time will tell. Right now, he certainly looks as if he’s going to be a good player.”

Most people have already noted Gusto down as merely right-back cover for club captain James, but he’ll make himself harder and harder to drop if he keeps going how he is.
He’s taking the most of his chances in the side so far with some really assured performances during his first taste of English football. We are similar in Johnson by really enjoying what we’re seeing from Gusto so far.
The full-back loves to attack and provided two assists in the league against Luton Town. There’s a lot to admire about his tenacious defending, too.
Gusto recently told Sky Sports that he’s got a “good relationship” with Mauricio Pochettino. Let’s see if that continues moving forward when his spot in the line-up comes under the spotlight.
