Todd Boehly has claimed in SALT’s conference in New York that the football pyramid in England would benefit from an American-style All-star game.

The Chelsea owner has endured a busy first summer at the club, attempting to quickly come to terms with the pressures of being in charge of one of the world’s greatest football clubs.

He has taken on a lot more responsibility than he would have perhaps liked early in his reign, following the departure of many key figures at the club such as Petr Cech and Marina Granovskaia.

However, it’s his latest comments regarding an All-star game which have sparked debate in recent hours, with many fans arguing over who would feature in the so-far fantasy match-up.

If the game was to happen, the Blues would likely be well-represented for the southern line-up, with The Chelsea Chronicle naming five in the starting XI.

Reece James

The right-back spot is a fairly comfortable one for the Southern side, with James proving that the only Joao Cancelo and Trent Alexander-Arnold are on his level in the top flight.

Thiago Silva

Likely to be the captain for the fantasy match-up, the drop in pace the game would be played at would suit Thiago Silva even better. An early potential man-of-the-match candidate.

Ben Chilwell

Ben Chilwell’s biggest competition for the left-back role of the Southern team would come from his own club, with Marc Cucurella also pushing for the start.

N’golo Kante

Barring fitness, N’golo Kante would be a shoe-in for the midfield of the Southern team who are likely to face the task of stopping Kevin de Bruyne providing for the Northern attack.

Raheem Sterling

Likely to be playing in a dynamic frontline with Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane, Sterling would be given the freedom to run in behind while combining with his England teammate.
