Former Premier League star Theo Walcott has admitted he would love to see one current Chelsea star playing in Arsenal colours.

Even though they are London rivals, Chelsea and Arsenal have conducted a lot of transfer business over the years.

There are many more players who have represented both clubs, including Raheem Sterling, who joined Arsenal on a season-long loan from Chelsea last summer.

It is believed that Sterling is happy at Arsenal and doesn’t feel frozen out like he did at Chelsea.

Theo Walcott would love to see Cole Palmer playing for Arsenal

Theo Walcott, who spent 12 years at Arsenal during his playing career, claims he’d love to see Chelsea talisman Cole Palmer playing for the Gunners.

When discussing Chelsea’s attacking midfielder Palmer, Walcott said via the Premier League’s YouTube channel: “I’m very impressed… He’s very left-footed. When he gets into those spaces, he’s very composed. I compared him to [Dennis] Bergkamp. I wouldn’t mind seeing him in an Arsenal shirt, to be honest…

“Even if things aren’t really happening for him, there are always moments that happen and he stands out… He’s a smart player. He gets into some good positions as well, which is really key, where he might not be affecting the game, but he’s affecting someone’s thought process.”

As much as Palmer has the ability to improve an Arsenal side on the brink of a Champions League semi-final, we think the outrage from Chelsea fans would be catastrophic if they ever sold him to the Gunners.

Speaking in March, Martin Keown predicted Palmer could leave Chelsea in the next couple of years because of the state of the club.

Without a doubt, Chelsea need to get back to competing for the biggest trophies to ensure they keep hold of their biggest stars. The Blues are currently at risk of missing out on Champions League football for a third straight season.

The good news is that Palmer’s contract at Chelsea doesn’t include a clause that allows him to leave if the club misses out on Champions League qualification, but they really need to start matching his ambition.

Chelsea need Cole Palmer to break duck

Palmer hasn’t scored in his previous 10 consecutive appearances in the Premier League, which is his longest streak since he joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023.

Even though he’s firing a blank in front of goal, the encouraging statistic is that he’s still getting in the right areas and getting chances.

Chelsea have six league games left to try to get themselves back into the Premier League’s top five positions to secure Champions League qualification for next year. If Palmer’s struggles continue, we’re fearful that the Blues may miss out.

The fact that Palmer still has 14 goals and nine assists in the Premier League this season puts into perspective how quick he was out of the gate. Now, can he end strongly in the final stretch when his team needs him the most?
