Theo Walcott has made his prediction ahead of this Sunday’s EFL Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool.
Chelsea and Liverpool have no Premier League fixture this weekend because they’re locking horns at Wembley Stadium in the Carabao Cup final.
For the Blues, there’s so much riding on winning the trophy in a few days time. Mauricio Pochettino’s side are fighting to salvage a season that is slowly grinding to a mid-table finish in the league.
As for the Reds, they’re favourites for the first piece of silverware in 2024. Jurgen Klopp is looking to bow out during his final season at Anfield by winning the four competitions his team are still competing in.

Theo Walcott, who’s now retired, has shared his pre-match thoughts before the League Cup final.
His prediction is for a close tie that goes all the way to penalties.
Speaking about the upcoming cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea, Walcott told Football Daily: “Cup finals, anything can happen. Knowing and being in these games before, they tend to go to penalties, they really do because these teams cancel each other out because they are so close in statute when it comes to cup finals. Premier League the form goes out the window, in a cup final, each and every player wants to win and fight to the end and that’s why you see a lot of them go to penalties.
“I probably see this going all the way to the end which isn’t ever nice, I hate seeing penalties.”
Chelsea vs Liverpool
Chelsea want through the torment of losing to Liverpool on penalties in both the League Cup final and FA Cup final a couple of years ago, so the scars will still be there for Blues supporters.
Let’s hope a relatively new squad of players can fare better this time around, albeit we’re underdogs against a rampant Liverpool side flying at the top of the league.
Speaking on his own YouTube channel earlier this week, Ben Foster has predicted Liverpool to win a penalty shootout in the cup final against Chelsea.
Aside from Liverpool’s 4-1 hammering of Chelsea last month, the recent history between these teams has them as very even in meetings.
