Even though Chelsea’s 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth was a major disappointment, Reece James marked his return to Premier League action with a bang.
The Blues went in front on Tuesday night through Cole Palmer’s magical goal in a one-sided first half. Incidentally, Joe Cole compared Chelsea’s Palmer to Lionel Messi yesterday.
However, Bournemouth came from behind to lead in the second period with goals from Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo.
Chelsea captain Reece James, 25, salvaged a point for the hosts last night with his 95th-minute free-kick. It was the right-back’s first league minutes since early November against Arsenal, so it must’ve been a special individual moment for him.

Chelsea stars message Reece James on Instagram after Bournemouth goal
James uploaded on Instagram a post without a captain after his stunning goal in Chelsea’s draw with Bournemouth.
Interestingly, he’s received so many responses in comment section from past and present Blues stars, including the likes of Thiago Silva, Marcos Alonso and Ben Chilwell.

Chelsea supporters will be reluctant to get too excited about the latest James comeback because of his horrid luck of injuries, but there’s no doubt he’s a special player when he’s on the football pitch.
Chelsea defender James has missed over 100 career games through injury, so is his luck about to change in that regard?

Reece James rescues a point for Chelsea
Palmer and James were stood over the free-kick in the closing stages against Bournemouth, but it was the latter that fired a shot that went in via a kiss off the post.
If James is fit and available, he’s a huge player for the Blues, both on and off the ball.
| Minutes played | Goals | Successful dribbles | Touches | Accurate passes | Chances created | Duels won | Duels lost | Match rating |
| 35 | 1 | 2/2 (100%) | 37 | 23/27 (85%) | 1 | 5 | 3 | 7.8 |
James has always had a knack of a big goal or assist in games, which is why it’s great news if he can stay fit for the second half of the season.
While Moises Caicedo can do a job inverting from right-back, his display against Bournemouth illustrated that he’s at his best doing his day job in the central midfield position. Therefore, James will solve a big issue in the coming months if he’s available to Enzo Maresca.
