Journalist David Ornstein has claimed that one Chelsea player has now received plenty of interest from top Premier League clubs regarding a transfer this month.
He told The Athletic that Conor Gallagher has been the subject of a number of top teams as the transfer window approaches its closing date.
It has been claimed all month that Gallagher has been available for purchase if the right bid comes in for him.
Tottenham have been a side who have been linked with the move, with him seemingly being absolutely perfect for the side being put together by Ange Postecoglu.
He has been a crucial element of the setup under Mauricio Pochettino this season, and letting him go would likely leave the manager fuming.
Ornstein has claimed though that a new contract is no closer to being signed, and top-half Premier League sides are interested in a move.
Gallagher wanted by top clubs
He said: “Given Conor Gallagher’s contract expires at the end of next season and a new deal looks unlikely at present, it is plausible Chelsea agree to sell him either this month or in the summer.
“There have been enquiries from three clubs in the top half of the Premier League and despite the 23-year-old’s importance to Mauricio Pochettino’s line-up, his outlook remains uncertain.
“Trading a homegrown product like Gallagher would help Chelsea’s financial position considerably and the same is true of Armando Broja and Trevoh Chalobah. Both are available to leave permanently or on loan with an obligation to buy.”
Despite the fact that the long-term future of the club likely does not contain Gallagher, selling him in the middle of this season would be a terrible decision to make.
With there still being no return date set for Romeo Lavia in midfield, he will be relied upon for at least the remainder of this campaign by the manager.
