Tim Sherwood believes Chelsea should appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their next manager.

The Blues aren’t in action this weekend in any games, but there’s still plenty of drama at Stamford Bridge with off-field decisions.

Frank Lampard is currently in his role as Chelsea’s caretaker manager until the end of the season, replacing the recently sacked Graham Potter. However, the club are searching for their next permanent boss.

Mauricio Pochettino, who knows London well from his five-year spell at Tottenham, is now strongly linked with the vacant position at Stamford Bridge.

The Independent has claimed today that Chelsea have reached the next stage during talks with Pochettino about him becoming their next manager. He still needs to beat off competition from Vincent Kompany and an unnamed candidate before he officially clinches the job, though.

Sky Sports pundit Sherwood has said Chelsea should hire Pochettino.

“Because of that [Tottenham] connection, it’s going to be tough for Pochettino. But I believe he’s the right man,” Sherwood told Sky Sports, as quoted by Football Daily.

It’s hard to overlook Pochettino’s huge connections with rivals Spurs.

However, they’ve employed the likes of Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho in recent seasons to show loyalty in football can change quickly.

The Guardian has claimed today that Chelsea are leaning towards offering Pochettino the job.

If the Argentine lands the Blues role, supporters will need to quickly nudge his Spurs allegiances to the back of their minds.

He helped build a very eye-catching side during his time at Spurs, so let’s see what he can do with Chelsea’s young bunch.
