Reports have claimed that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is in contact with Fulham owner Tony Khan about a potential ground share scheme.

According to the Mail Online, the American is considering moving Chelsea down the road in West London as they do work on renovating Stamford Bridge.

Reports in the last couple of weeks have claimed that the Blues have secured a deal to buy a large portion of land surrounding the original home stadium, as they look to start work on increasing the capacity.

While it has still not been decided what the final plan will be, this suggests that the intention will be to do work on the existing ground, rather than move them to any other area in London.

However, supporters will certainly have something to say about the prospect of playing football at their local rivals’ stadium for however long that has to be.

As well as the obvious issues of calling a rival’s stadium home, they would be transitioning to a ground which actually has a lower attendance than the current Stamford Bridge.

Boehly risking angering Chelsea fans

It is unclear what this would mean for match goers, with obviously less of them being able to attend each game.

However, it likely means that the already-fleeting confidence in the owners would take another hit, which would no doubt be damning for their stock.

A 12th placed finish last season seems to have been too much for some supporters to back Boehly and co, however it has to be said that the recent transfer window and managerial appointment have begun to put things back on the right track.

It would be wise not to undo some of their recent work by making a decision that would anger plenty of regulars at Stamford Bridge.
