Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has given a very honest assessment of one Chelsea player.

Outside of the Chelsea fanbase, there are some football supporters who feel that the likes of Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo are overrated.

The two, though, made huge impacts at the Club World Cup. Cole Palmer really shone at the tournament as Chelsea went on to win the trophy after beating Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final.

Jordan, however, has been speaking about another Chelsea player who he feels is quite overhyped.

Simon Jordan suggests Raheem Sterling is overrated

The last few seasons have been disappointing for Raheem Sterling, especially the previous campaign.

While out on loan at Arsenal, the winger only managed to score one goal in 28 appearances. It is in stark contrast to what he was able to accomplish at Manchester City.

However, even during his time there, Jordan was not totally convinced, feeling that the 30-year-old was never at the level people put him on.

Speaking about the England international on talkSPORT, he said: “I never liked Raheem Sterling the way he left Liverpool. I thought that was not engineered the right way.

“I think he’s a good player. I think he’s another one of those players that’s been built up to a level that I don’t think he was at. I think he’s had good games for England. [But] there’s a constant thread of managers that are prepared to marginalise him. Pep [Guardiola] did it at Manchester City.”

Sterling was the first signing Chelsea made under owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, with the former being the club’s sporting director at the time.

However, his transfer has proven to be an unsuccessful one and the Blues are now hoping to offload him permanently. After paying Manchester City £50m for his signature back in 2022, it is now being reported that Sterling could be allowed to leave for £20m, which would see Boehly and co make a heavy loss.

Raheem Sterling could get move to European giants despite disappointing season

Sterling has had a year to forget, and his form has not been great for a while now. Even so, he could yet get a transfer to another big club.

It has been reported that Juventus are showing interest in Sterling, but whether they can afford to do a permanent deal remains to be seen.

On his current wages, there is not a chance, but a loan will not be Chelsea’s first option.
