Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling has been like a different player so far this season.

That is according to Tony Cascarino.

Mauricio Pochettino has certainly made a positive impact on several Chelsea players since arriving in the summer as head coach, including with Raheem Sterling.

The £50million forward (Daily Mail) is performing consistently, scoring goals and standing out in the XI.

We’re expecting the 28-year-old star to keep getting better as a real senior figure in this young squad, but he’s certainly pulling his weight in the opening months of the campaign.

Speaking via talkSPORT this week, Darren Bent said Sterling has “stepped up” his game recently.

Fresh look this season

Tony Cascarino thinks it’s been night and day for Sterling when you compare his form this season to last year.

“If you go back to the end of last season, Raheem was struggling, Chelsea was struggling, and he didn’t play particularly well. This year, I’ve seen a different Raheem from nearly day one,” Cascarino told The Game Football Podcast.

In our view, the Chelsea squad looks a much easier environment to thrive in this term around under Pochettino. Therefore, the natural quality of players like Sterling and Conor Gallagher is coming out a lot easier.

Raheem Sterling transformed

Sterling may be transformed right now if you compare him to the earlier stages of his Chelsea career. However, this version of him has been there tearing up defences for years in a Manchester City, Liverpool and England shirt.

Speaking on the It’s All Kicking Off podcast, Chris Sutton claimed that Sterling should be in the latest England squad ahead of Marcus Rashford.

Sterling’s latest omission from the England squad this month will continue to receive criticism, rightly so.

In the meantime, Chelsea’s attacker can only keep working hard off the pitch and delivering eye-catching displays on a matchday. He certainly appears to be really fired up in recent games.
