Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino can improve his side’s attack by bringing in a new striker this month.
However, Glen Johnson has warned his former club about signing Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke if they want to do the above.
Solanke has been in excellent form this season, scoring 12 goals in 19 Premier League appearances, but Johnson has told GGRecon that it is too soon for the 26-year-old to return to Chelsea.
Solanke left Stamford Bridge for Liverpool back in 2017 before eventually going on to join Bournemouth.
According to the Daily Star, the Cherries value their star striker at £50m. However, journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that he is not a player who Chelsea are currently considering.
Too soon for Dominic Solanke to join Chelsea
While Solanke is scoring goals right now, Johnson does not think he is ready to play for a club like Chelsea yet.
“I think a move like that would be too soon for Dominic,” the former Blues defender said. “He’s beginning to show a better end product and he’s beginning to realise the potential that Liverpool saw in him when they signed him.
“It’s great to see him scoring regularly in the Premier League, but for me he hasn’t done it for long enough for a club like Chelsea to sign him.”

Dominic Solanke needs another good season in the Premier League
Before Chelsea go and splash out £50m on Solanke, it probably would be wise to wait and see if the England international can have another campaign like this one.
What we are seeing from the former Chelsea and Liverpool man, is it his actual ability or just a good run of form? More time needs to pass before that question can be answered.
Time is not something managers are afforded, though, so it would be best for Pochettino if the club bought a more proven centre-forward now instead of waiting for Solanke to prove himself.
