Enzo Fernandez has taken to Instagram to praise Reece James for his performance for Chelsea last night.
The pair both featured in the club’s most important game of the season yesterday against Borussia Dortmund, as a place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League was up for grabs.
Despite defeat in the first leg a few weeks’ ago, a spirited performance turned the tie around last night. Goals from Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz changed their fortunes.

The result came off the back of enduring a painful run of form, which nearly saw the end of manager Graham Potter’s time at the club.
However, two consecutive wins have eased the pressure a bit, and a return to full fitness of some of his big players will have been a massive help too.
One of those returning in recent weeks has been James, who has looked more at home in the three-back formation the Blues have been operating with recently.

It was another stellar display for the Champions League winner in the competition, as he was unmoved defensively whilst also bringing his talents to the attack when required.
It seemingly didn’t go unnoticed amongst his teammates just how well he played either.
Fernandez commented: “Top player” on James’ post-match Instagram post.

The former Benfica man also enjoyed a strong showing, as he continues to look way more comfortable in the new system used by Potter.
He was again partnered by Mateo Kovacic in midfield, and the captain for the evening was the perfect compliment with his off-ball work to the club-record signing’s technical ability.
For Chelsea fans, the prospect of Fernandez partnering a returning N’golo Kante in the next round of the competition is certainly an exciting one.
