‘Tough’: 23-year-old Chelsea player admits he’s found the last few months really difficult

Kai Havertz has admitted to the Evening Standard that he has personally really struggled during Chelsea’s tough run recently.

The club were on a run of two wins in 17 games recently, from which saw the pressure crank up on Graham Potter in charge.

It felt as if the last week of fixtures was going to be the measuring pole for the manager to stay in the job.

He certainly responded. Three wins in a row, including the massive Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund, as brought the good feeling back to Stamford Bridge.

Another member of the club who has responded to the task is Havertz. He has two goals in his last two games whilst still occupying the striker role.

He found the net at the weekend against Leicester off the back of a sensational Enzo Fernandez assist.

Havertz admits his struggles

The run of form will certainly be good for his mental health, with him admitting that the tough results recently have had a genuine impact on him.

He said: “Football is our life. If you lose a game, of course you don’t have an easy life. I think everyone at home, especially my girlfriend, has had some tough weeks as well the last weeks and months.

“If you have a bad day at work… you… I won’t say the word now but you don’t feel good.

“Football is a game where we have a lot of pressure on our shoulders. We want to make the fans happy and if you don’t make them happy then you don’t have a good time.

“Winning is always the best, we won again so we can enjoy some days.”

The German in particular will look to keep up his strong run of form when the Blues welcome Everton to Stamford Bridge next Saturday.
