Chelsea are still planning on completing more signings before the end of this summer transfer window, however transfer insider Graeme Bailey is shocked that they are not looking to sign one player in particular.
It has been reported that there is still a desire for the club to add to their attacking options before the deadline on Monday, and Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho have both been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
Garnacho has already told friends he is joining Chelsea this summer, and there is an expectation that deal will be completed.
There is so far less clarity over Simons, with Chelsea awaiting a sale of Christopher Nkunku or Nicolas Jackson before pushing on with that signing.

Transfer insider ‘shocked’ Chelsea aren’t looking to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma
One position the Blues were linked with throughout the summer is the goalkeeper role, with Mike Maignan an early target before Gianluigi Donnarumma cropped up as a potential option.
Chelsea were linked with Donnarumma after the conclusion of the Club World Cup, however transfer insider Graeme Bailey has told The Chelsea Chronicle that the position is unlikely to be assessed until January.
He went on to say that he is very surprised a deal is not being looked at, and believes starting Robert Sanchez in goal will cost them this season.
He said: “The goalkeeper situation, I think they’re happy to assess that in January as it stands now. I’m still shocked they’re not in the Donnarumma conversation slightly more. Could that change the next few days? Never say never, the hierarchy may have a change of heart in that regard and Chelsea are fully aware of what’s going on there.
“But I think it’ll cost them. Yes, he’s on a big contract but he’s only 26. I’m frankly amazed that Chelsea are not in for Donnarumma.”

Robert Sanchez failing to impress so far this season
Sanchez was one of the big losers of Chelsea’s dominant 5-1 win over West Ham, as he failed to cover himself in glory when dealing with Lucas Paqueta’s speculative strike from distance.
The Spaniard had got lucky that Eberechi Eze’s free-kick was disallowed in the opening game of the season, with the shot being too hot to handle for him.
There has been discontent about Sanchez being the number one choice at Stamford Bridge for more than 12 months now, and many expected Djordje Petrovic to be given a chance before his move to Bournemouth.
With no new option set to come in, the pressure is on Sanchez to turn things around in a season where they will be hoping to genuinely compete for the Premier League and Champions League.
