Changing managers can often shake a club’s foundations, but for Chelsea’s players, it has become the norm. Trevoh Chalobah has insisted that the “past is the past”, following the sacking of Liam Rosenior.

A key player under Rosenior, Chalobah is already back in Chelsea’s side after a nasty-looking ankle injury in the second leg against PSG. He struggled against Brighton on his return, but impressed on Sunday.

Rosenior will have surely watched Sunday’s win over Leeds United, a side he could only draw against with home advantage during his Chelsea stint, and questioned where that fight was while he was in charge.

Gusto and Sanchez excellent!

But Chelsea’s players have already moved on from Rosenior. That is according to Chalobah, who spoke after reaching the FA Cup final on Sunday afternoon, having helped keep a clean sheet against Leeds.

Chelsea have moved on from Rosenior, according to Chalobah

While Chalobah admitted that there is always a bit of an emotional pull when a manager leaves, it has only taken the defender three days to declare that Rosenior is history, and full focus is on the future.

He told Hayters TV: “The past is the past. For us, it’s about the results. It’s not about that. We need to be winning games. That’s what the fans want and what we want. That’s what the club wants.

“For us, it’s just resetting. Whatever has happened has happened. We just have to look forward and give our all. Obviously it’s difficult. No matter what club you’re in, this situation has happened,” he continued.

“Obviously, a manager goes and we have to reset again. For us, it’s just focusing on what we have. It’s another five finals. Four in the Premier League and obviously a final here. But for us, it’s five finals.

“We have to go in there with the quality and hunger that we can show. No matter who the manager is, it’s difficult. Obviously, you spend time with them, work with them. You have to adapt. You’ve got to reset.”

The change Calum McFarlane made at centre-back that worked

The one surprise McFarlane made on the weekend was the inclusion of Tosin Adarabioyo in his starting line-up. Rosenior rarely used Tosin, but McFarlane has started Tosin twice in his three Chelsea matches.

On Sunday, Tosin was excellent. He dealt with the danger of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Chelsea, who have been poor when defending from crosses and set-pieces this season, and kept a clean sheet.

This is against a Leeds side renowned for being strong from attacking set-pieces. Long throws and set-pieces were dealt with by a Chelsea side reinvigorated under McFarlane. Perhaps, Tosin is the answer.
