Trevoh Chalobah handed chance to achieve one of his main goals after Chelsea loan recall, former manager has big say

Trevoh Chalobah will be hoping that his recent recall from his loan away from Chelsea is him being given one final chance to make it at his boyhood club.

The defender was treated terribly by the club over the summer, as they pushed to make his exit permanent despite playing a key role at the back end of last season.

It is currently expected that Chalobah is still sold at the end of the season, however featuring ahead of the likes of Tosin Adarabioyo and Axel Disasi for the rest of the campaign could change this.

Chalobah has maintained strong relationships with Chelsea and the players, hopefully making his return to Stamford Bridge a seamless transition.

Trevoh Chalobah hoping Chelsea recall helps him become England international

While succeeding at Chelsea has always been the centre-back’s main aim, becoming an international for his country is no doubt high on the agenda too.

Chalobah is currently uncapped for England, however was certainly doing his chances of a call-up no harm with his performances for Crystal Palace.

Journalist Nizaar Kinsella has shared that this is one of his main career goals, with a former manager having a big say over that decision.

He said: “It’s worth noting one of Trevoh Chalobah’s goals is to make his England debut. Thomas Tuchel loved working with him and gave him his breakthrough at Stamford Bridge in 2021. It felt like he was knocking on the door while at Palace.”

What does Thomas Tuchel think of Trevoh Chalobah?

During Thomas Tuchel’s time as Chelsea manager, Chalobah was a regular in the back three alongside Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger.

He was full of praise for the defender from as soon as he made his debut, a game where he found the net from distance.

Tuchel said to BBC Sport: “Fantastic. He gets all the praise and it’s well deserved. Two excellent matches. He played against Arsenal and Tottenham in friendlies, then 120 minutes on Wednesday, then 90 today and scores. It’s fantastic these things happen in sports. A perfect day for him.”

It remains to be seen if Chalobah will play any part in Chelsea’s next Premier League game against Wolves on Monday night.
