Trevoh Chalobah tells Chelsea teammates the exact game plan to beat Brentford

Trevoh Chalobah knows what Chelsea have to do in order to win their west London derby against Brentford on Saturday.

Enzo Maresca‘s men travel to the Gtech Community Stadium, looking for a third straight win after beating Fulham and West Ham United.

After opting against signing a new centre-back in the last transfer window, Chalobah was definitely one winner at Chelsea over the summer.

The 26-year-old has started all three of the Blues’ Premier League fixtures so far.

Trevoh Chalobah urges Chelsea teammates to be physical against Brentford

Chalobah had a solid August, but if the central defender and Chelsea are going to start September well, they need to beat Brentford.

To do that, Chalobah has told his teammates that they need to be physical and then show their quality against Keith Andrews’ side.

“You just have to be physical,” the England international was quoted as saying by Chelsea’s official website ahead of Saturday’s west London derby. “Brentford have always been a physical team, and the way they play, their style of play, we’ve got to be ready and know what’s coming.

“It’s going to be a battle. That’s the first step we have to take. Then from there we show our quality and hopefully we use that momentum, the confidence we have, to go and win the game.”

While a few Premier League clubs were interested in signing Chalobah, the Blues decided not to sell him.

In fact, following Levi Colwill’s injury, it was claimed that Chelsea’s stance on Chalobah was their academy graduate was not for sale.

After their London derby with Brentford, Chelsea travel to the Allianz Arena to take on Bayern Munich.

It is a game that could see Chelsea come up against Nicolas Jackson, who left the Blues for the German giants on deadline day.

As exciting as that clash is, though, Chalobah has warned that it cannot be a distraction heading into this weekend.

“We can’t just keep thinking about the game after, forgetting about the game that’s coming,” Chalobah said. “So we’ve got to take it day by day and prepare for the game ahead.”

It will be Chelsea’s first appearance in the Champions League since 2023. Maresca’s men are not one of the favourites to win the tournament, but they were not given much of a chance in the Club World Cup either.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Chalobah and this young Chelsea side get on in Europe’s elite competition this term.
