Another crazy transfer window finally closed on Monday. Without a doubt, Liverpool and Chelsea were two of the biggest talking points of the summer.
From a Chelsea perspective, it was another hectic window with so much activity, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.
Chelsea supporters were critical of their transfer window, even though Blues head coach Enzo Maresca has been left with a talented young squad to work with.
As for Arne Slot’s Liverpool, they’ve shown huge ambition to try and retain the league title. It is quite remarkable that their summer signings Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike all feature in the top 10 of the Premier League’s most expensive signings ever.

Troy Deeney hails Joao Pedro signing from Chelsea
According to Troy Deeney, Chelsea attacker Joao Pedro has been the best summer signing in the Premier League to date. He mentioned he’s been better than someone like German superstar Wirtz at Liverpool.
After naming Chelsea’s Pedro in his latest Premier League Team of the Week, Deeney said via BBC Sport: “For me, he’s been the signing of the summer so far. A load of talk about Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz and all these different players but Joao Pedro has hit the ground running at Chelsea.
“That team kind of feels like it’s his already, it feels like he’s going to be the one who’s going to be that special piece. Another goal, lost Liam Delap to injury, not a problem. He can play through the middle, move further up as the game goes on. No Cole Palmer, no problem, Joao Pedro is there to fill in as a 10. He’s just been excellent.”
Joe Cole has noticed the “swagger” of Pedro on the football pitch for Chelsea, and it’s been incredible to see him settle so quickly in West London. After an impressive impact at the Club World Cup, he’s taken that into the start of the Premier League.
Aly McCoist’s assessment of Pedro is that he’s a bit of a “bargain” at £60m.

Joao Pedro vs Florian Wirtz
While Pedro has made a rapid start to life in Chelsea colours, 22-year-old attacker Wirtz has been a bit slower at Liverpool since his arrival at Anfield.
| Player | Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Joao Pedro | Chelsea | 3 | 2 | 2 |
| Florian Wirtz | Liverpool | 3 | 0 | 0 |
It was a huge positive for Chelsea when they signed Pedro from Brighton that he’s very experienced in England’s top division. As a result, the Brazilian forward has slotted in pretty effortlessly to the starting XI.
Meanwhile, Wirtz is too talented as a footballer to stay quiet for too long at Liverpool. The former Leverkusen playmaker will need to come back sharp after the international break because the competition for places is so tough now at Anfield, though.
