Ruben Loftus-Cheek is close to returning to action as Thomas Tuchel invited several Chelsea academy players to train with the group ahead of Saturday’s match against Crystal Palace.
The 26-year-old returned to training earlier this week after a three-week injury absence. He, unfortunately, did not even travel to Abu Dhabi for the Club World Cup.
Mason Mount, on the other hand, is reportedly out for a couple of weeks after picking up an ankle injury during the final match against Palmeiras.
It remains unclear at this point, but reports suggest he could be back in time for the League Cup final against Liverpool on 27 February.
But first, the trip to Selhurst Park at the weekend.
Several academy stars also took part in the training session, including Jude Soonsup-Bell and Charlie Webster.
The Blues currently sit third in the league table, 16 points behind league leaders Manchester City and seven points behind Liverpool.
They will face Lille in the Champions League round-of-16 first-leg match at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday before taking on Liverpool in the League Cup final.
