Chelsea trained on Tuesday night ahead of the upcoming friendly match against Club America, but two individuals worked away from the main squad and were put through their paces.
Chelsea’s pre-season tour continues on Thursday when they face Club America. It’s the third of five matches the Blues will play in the United States, with a draw against Wrexham and defeat to Celtic so far.
Head coach Enzo Maresca is working with a large squad out in the US as he gets to know the group, which became even bigger when new signing Filip Jorgensen joined it this week. Jorgensen trained with Chelsea on Tuesday and is quickly into things after his arrival from Villarreal.

Nicolas Jackson and Moises Caicedo ramp up intensity in training
Nicolas Jackson and Moises Caicedo, two important first-team players at Chelsea from last season, haven’t played a minute yet in pre-season under the new management. However, journalist Simon Johnson reports that both went through ‘intense fitness drills’ on Tuesday evening.
Johnson wrote on X: “Nicolas Jackson and Moises Caicedo were put through some intense fitness drills away from main Chelsea squad at training on Tuesday night. Both men playing catch up after an ankle injury and later return to the camp respectively.”
There’s no official line on when either player will make their first appearances under Maresca, but the noise about them in training does sound positive.
It’s been reported by The Athletic that Jackson could be playing again for Chelsea next week. His return to fitness has been delayed by an ankle injury, but he could be back in either of the friendlies against Manchester City or Real Madrid next week.
Caicedo has been with Chelsea’s squad for a week, but he’s not been involved yet in matches due to a late arrival because of his involvement at the Copa America.
Chelsea will rely on both Nicolas Jackson and Moises Caicedo
There’s a lot of high-profile names in Chelsea’s large squad for the upcoming season, but Jackson and Caicedo are two individuals that can shine.
For Jackson, he’ll be looking to build on a decent debut season in English football. The 23-year-old forward is a really complete player that offers a lot on and off the ball. Plus, he scored 17 goals in all competitions last season.
As for Caicedo, the 22-year-old star got stronger as the previous campaign went on. There’s question marks about where the midfield powerhouse will best fit into Maresca’s XI, but there’s no denying he’s a special talent.
