Armando Broja hailed Chelsea teammate Djordje Petrovic after yesterday’s performance in the win against Newcastle United.
Chelsea edged out Newcastle United 4-2 on penalties to book their spot in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
The Blues scored all four of their spot-kicks via Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, Christopher Nkunku and Mykhailo Mudryk. In contrast, Newcastle exited the cup competition on Tuesday night after penalty misses from Kieran Trippier and Matt Ritchie.
Djordje Petrovic, the Chelsea goalkeeper, enjoyed the winning moment with his reflex save from Ritchie’s penalty.
The £14million keeper (Sky Sports) was only making his second ever start for the club, so heroics in a penalty shootout should do his confidence the world of good.

Chelsea striker Armando Broja, who came off the bench in the Newcastle win, was full of praise for teammates afterwards.
Broja said via Hayters TV: “It was amazing for Misha (Mudryk) to come on and grab the equaliser… Petro (Petrovic) was unbelievable in that shootout.”
Petrovic arrived at Stamford Bridge with a bit of a positive reputation for saving penalties, so it was great to see him replicate previous success in a Chelsea shirt this week.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper has this massive opportunity to start games because of the injury to goalkeeper rival Robert Sanchez.
Hopefully, the Serbia international can find his best form after the confidence of yesterday.
Djordje Petrovic against Newcastle
Petrovic couldn’t do much about the goal he conceded in midweek. As for the rest of the 90 minutes, he didn’t have much to do as the hosts dominated possession. However, he did come to the party in the penalty shootout.
We’d say the jury is still out on the young goalkeeper as he gets more chances to play.
We’re still not sold on the idea of Sanchez being the long-term number one option, so perhaps this is the big chance that Petrovic needs to grab with both hands.
Speaking via The Evening Standard earlier this week, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino admitted that Sanchez could be out injured for up to six weeks.
