Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is having to deal with so many injury problems right now.

Reece James recently picked up another hamstring injury and Robert Sanchez has also joined him on the sidelines.

And speaking to the Evening Standard and other outlets before Chelsea‘s game against Newcastle United later, Mauricio Pochettino admitted that he is not exactly sure when the latter will be back, suggesting that he could be out for up to six weeks.

Djordje Petrovic has come into the side in Sanchez’s absence, starting in the 2-0 win against Sheffield United over the weekend.

With Sanchez expected to be out for a while, the Serbian is now set to get a run in the team.

Mauricio Pochettino gives Robert Sanchez update

While Pochettino is hoping to have Sanchez back as soon as possible, the Chelsea boss fears he could be without his No.1 for up to six weeks.

On Sanchez’s injury, he said: “It is an injury that’s going to be for a few weeks, I don’t know if two, three, four, five or six.

“We will assess day-by-day to know how to follow it. His recovery will depend on him and the reaction of his knee and it is difficult to say in two or three weeks but we hope [he is back] as soon as possible.”

Robert Sanchez’s injury a blow for Chelsea

Overall, Sanchez has done a pretty good job at Chelsea since arriving from Brighton & Hove Albion in a £25m deal (Sky Sports) over the summer.

The 26-year-old has made the odd mistake here and there, but the Blues have had worse goalkeepers.

According to FBref, Sanchez has made 52 saves in the Premier League this season, leaving him just outside the top five goalies for that statistic.

There are some concerns about his distribution, but Sanchez has proven that he is a good shot-stopper and his injury will come as a setback to Pochettino.
