Brazilian site Ge Globo have waxed lyrical about the performance of Chelsea’s Thiago Silva at the World Cup last night.
The 38-year-old led by example again against South Korea, as a dominant first half eventually saw the tournament favourites run out 4-1 winners.
The stellar opening 45 minutes saw them race into a four goal lead, stunning their opposition in the process.

While Silva is so often credited for his defensive work, his attacking skills were also lauded during that first half. A brilliant assist for Richarlison to make it 3-0 rightly saw his ability on the ball praised.
Another fantastic performance wasn’t missed by Brazilian media, with Ge Globo left full of praise for the defender.
They said: “In the game in which he equaled Dunga and Cafu as a player who most often was captain of Brazil in Cups (11), defender had another great performance.
Thiago Silva praised
“Practically untouchable in the marking, he still attacked with a number 10 and gave great assistance, first class, for Richarlison to score the third goal.“He was unlucky in the South Korean goal, in which the ball deflected him.”
After Silva was rested for the final group game of the tournament, the defence looked nowhere near as solid in the 1-0 defeat to Cameroon.
Despite conceding a consolation tonight, the backline looked extremely strong for the third consecutive match with the Chelsea man present.

Blues fans will be hoping he can carry some of this dominant form back to Stamford Bridge when the club season returns.
Chelsea have endured a tough season, however one positive again has been the performances of their veteran at the back.
However, they will know more than anyone that he can’t go on forever, and Graham Potter will require a competent replacement in order to push on as club manager.
